A five-car crash killed two people near Lewes on Nov. 7, Delaware State Police said.
The pile-up on Coastal Highway happened in the afternoon when a dump truck struck the back of a car that was slowing or stopped for traffic south of Hudson Road. That collision caused a chain reaction with three other vehicles, state police said.
The car that was directly hit by the dump truck was a Ford Edge occupied by a 64-year-old man and 62-year-old woman from Bel Air, Maryland. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman was taken to the hospital where she died, police said. Their identities are being withheld until family is notified.
