Three weeks ago, I fell over like a Norway spruce (always mindful of my ancestors) and broke my elbow. Then two weeks later, I realized a lifelong dream.

The elbow-breaking experience has been a real eye-opener.

For one thing, I’ve almost never been physically hurt. Up until now, the only thing I’ve ever broken is my heart, and I still say a broken elbow is a vast improvement on that experience. I’ve discovered I’m a drama queen about physical pain, and it’s fortunate that I live alone. And that dogs don’t roll their eyes.

Another admittedly childish reaction I’ve been having is, “Why didn’t anyone ever TELL ME ABOUT THIS?”
