Once again our president has been caught lying to the American public.

In a Truth Social message Trump stated that a provincial Canada television ad said that “Ronald Reagan did not like tariffs, when actually he LOVED TARIFFS FOR OUR COUNTRY, AND ITS NATIONAL SECURITY.”

Both the ad and Trump are referring to a radio address to the nation by Reagan on April 25, 1987.

In fact Reagan said the following:

“Over the long run such trade barriers hurt every American worker and consumer.”

“…The United States have an obligation to promote the prosperity and economic development that only free trade can bring.”

“High tariffs inevitably lead to retaliation by foreign countries and the triggering of fierce trade wars.”
