HOWELL, MI - Its interior offers a rare glimpse into the past, maintaining much of its original appearance despite a century of abandonment.
And soon, the Howell Opera House will be filled with people watching productions again for the first time since it closed 100 years ago.
Built in 1881, the Opera House is about to be restored in multiple phases thanks to $2 million in grants from the state of Michigan and another half a million dollars in private donations, overseen by the Livingston Arts Council , a 501c nonprofit.
