Head-on collision on I-49 leaves one dead, another critically injured

CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – One person is dead and another was airlifted to Ochsner LSU Health after an overnight crash on Interstate 49.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office was called to the crash, which was reported at 9:13 p.m. on I-49 near Louisiana Highway 170. A dark-colored SUV entered the interstate traveling northbound in the southbound lane and collided head-on with a white pickup truck, CPSO said in a news release.

Caddo Fire District 4 personnel reported the driver of the dark-colored SUV dead on the scene, and the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital via LifeAir with injuries considered life-threatening.
