SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) - Severe weather strikes frequently in this part of the country, where large trees can be deadly near homes, and paying to remove them is costly.
A Shreveport homeowner contacted Your Voice Matters after taking steps to prevent large-scale tree damage, but ended up stuck with a hefty bill. Our team wanted to find out if anything can be done in his case and who is financially responsible.
Tom Wright noticed the large tree in the backyard was leaning toward their house on Chelsea Drive.
"The tree was quite large and dangerous in our view. If you look at the root system, too. We had our own personal arborist come out, and she mentioned that it was no doubt becoming uprooted slowly," Wright said.
He and his wife worried a strong storm would cause it to fall dire
