JACKSON, Miss. - The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) arrested four people for the death of a student at Jackson State University (JSU) in 2023.

That shooting happened on October 15, 2023. Officers first responded to reports of a shooting at the University Pointe Apartments on campus, where they discovered Jaylen Burns, a JSU student from Chicago, suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at the hospital on November 9.

Friday, the MBI announced the arrests of 23-year-old Elisha Brown, 23-year-old Jamison Kelly Jr., 24-year-old Marquis Scales, and 21-year-old Ziqua Amos. Scales and Amos are charged with murder. Kelly was charged with accessory after the fact, as was Brown, who was also charged
