MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A third inmate has died while in the custody of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.

Christopher Steele, 41, died on Friday, November 7, while at Regional One Hospital in the custody of SCSO. According to the sheriff's office, he had been receiving treatment since Nov. 1.

Steele's death is under investigation.

According to court records, Steele was arrested on Oct. 14 for charges including assault, three counts of criminal trespassing, and evading arrest, all misdemeanor charges. He was being held on a $20,000 bond.

He is the third inmate in 9 days that has died.
