Pune, November 8, 2025: Residents have expressed strong objections over the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) using a section of the footpath near Sai Chowk as a garbage segregation site in Balewadi.
The move has not only blocked pedestrian access but has also created severe hygiene concerns in the area.
Locals complain that the stretch has become unhygienic, with foul odours making it difficult for people to walk through.
The site’s proximity to residential buildings has further raised fears of health risks and the possible spread of diseases.
Residents have urged the civic authorities to immediately relocate the segregation point and restore the footpath for public use, emphasizing the need for better waste management planning in densely populated neighbourhoods.
