Chamarajanagar: A forest department staff member was seriously injured after a leopard attacked him during a combing operation to trace a tiger in the Bandipur Tiger Reserve area.
The incident took place in the Omkar forest range limits of Yadavanahalli and Horeyala in Gundlupet taluk. During the operation, the leopard suddenly appeared, pounced on a goat grazing nearby, and then attacked Bangaru, a member of the elephant protection team.
Bangaru sustained serious injuries to his head and hand in the attack. He was immediately rushed to Begur Hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, forest officials visited the spot and are keeping a close watch on the area.
