The state government has – for this year – rolled back its decision to shut the water supply for irrigation from the Right Bank water canal of Ukai Kakrapar due to the unseasonal rainfall and damage to crops incurred by farmers.

On Friday, a high-level meeting was convened in Gandhinagar , headed by State Water Supply and Water Resources Minister Ishwar Patel, with the farmers’ advisory committee. Representatives of farmers from different districts and farmers’ organisations also attended. It was decided to postpone the expansion and repair work of the right bank water canal of the Ukai Kakrapar water canal network.
