It’s time to install winter tires and dust off the toques as the Greater Toronto Area is expected to receive its first snowfall of the year on Sunday, according to Environment Canada.

Two to 10 centimeters of snow is expected throughout the day on Sunday, said Victoria Nurse, a meteorologist with Environment Canada.

“We are seeing lesser amounts of snow accumulation closer to Lake Ontario compared to areas further inland,” she said.

Nurse added that areas further inland, such as Vaughan, Markham and Brampton, could see as much as five centimeters of snow by Sunday afternoon.

Temperatures on Sunday are forecast for a high of 1 C and a low of -5 C at night, according to the national weather agency’s website . WATCH | What GTA residents can expect this weekend:
