A 27-year-old man has been arrested two years after the shooting death of Mohamed Ahmed, brother of the renowned Toronto musician and poet Mustafa Ahmed, said Toronto police.

On July 25, 2023 , police pronounced 36-year-old Mohamed Ahmed dead after he was found inside a vehicle in downtown Toronto with a gunshot wound, said a police news release on Saturday.

Yasir Mohamed, 27, of Toronto was identified as one of two suspects in the 2023 daytime shooting. Toronto police said he was located and arrested on Friday.

Mohamed is facing six charges, including first-degree murder, assault with a weapon and two counts of failure to comply with recognizance.

He was scheduled to appear in court Saturday morning.
