GREEN BAY — In a closely contested D5 State Girls Volleyball Championship, it was Rib Lake coming out on top in four sets over Newman Catholic to claim the program's first-ever gold ball.

The Lady Redmen were powered by Madelyn Anderson, who had 11 kills and 27 attacks. Megan Komarek had 10 kills with 32 assists.

Tessa Weik and Madilyn Blomberg combined for 31 assists.

Newman Catholic won the first set 26-24 after Rib Lake had led for most of the period.

Rib Lake won the next three sets: 25-18, 25-19 and 25-23.

Senior captain Camille Sobolewski registered 22 kills and 72 attacks for Newman Catholic.
