MILWAUKEE — Madison West secured their first state championship since 1988 in Milwaukee Saturday, beating Marquette 1-0 at the Southeast Sales Powersports Stadium at Uihlein Soccer Park.
The Regents, seeded No. 4 entering the D1 tournament, scored the only goal they needed behind the leg of Louis Rowe. Jonah Wallace was credited with the assist.
The score came in the 75th minute of play. The team had 11 shots on the day.
Marquette finished with 6 shots.
Madison West's previous titles were in 1984, 1987, and 1988.
