In a first, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is set to carry out daily cleaning and maintenance of the 3.5-km long seafront at Worli Koliwada in an attempt to preserve and uplift the heritage of the place.
In the past one year, the civic authorities have taken up multiple initiatives to revive the Koliwadas in Mumbai . A Koliwada is a neighbourhood which houses members of the indigenous Koli community who are primarily fisherfolk. These Koliwadas are located in the coastal parts of Mumbai–some of which include Mahim, Worli and Cuffe Parade. In a similar move, the BMC earlier in Mahim had started a seafood plaza at Mahim seafront.
