A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of another teenager earlier this week in Jurupa Valley, authorities announced Saturday.

Deputies responded around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 5900 block of Scheelite Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics took the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced dead.

In the following days, homicide investigators identified the suspect as a 16-year-old Jurupa Valley resident. On Saturday, authorities arrested and booked him at Riverside Juvenile Hall on suspicion of murder, officials said in a news release.
