CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for several counties in Northeast Ohio.
The watch will be in effect through Tuesday morning in what is shaping up to be the season's first potential snowfall.
The following counties are included:
Ashtabula
Cuyahoga
Geauga
Lake
Lorain
Medina
Portage
Summit
The NWS says "heavy lake effect snow" is in play throughout the watch period with possible accumulations of five to 10 inches in some areas. Monday and Tuesday's morning and evening commutes are likely to be impacted by hazardous conditions.
Along with the potential snowfall, wind gusts could cause an "elevated risk" of power outages as trees accumulate snow on their leaves and branches.
