MILTON, Mass. —
Massachusetts State Police troopers helped make a special roadside delivery on Friday night.
Around 7:30 p.m., troopers received a call to assist a couple stuck in traffic on I-93 in Milton, as the woman was in active labor.
Police found the vehicle and facilitated EMS support at the Granite Avenue ramp.
The baby was safely delivered on scene by emergency medical personnel.
Troopers then escorted the ambulance through traffic to Boston Medical Center where both mom and baby are doing well, according to State police.
"The State Police would like to congratulate the couple on the birth of their child, and thank our EMS partners for their swift response," a department spokesperson said.
