SPRINGERVILLE − Funding woes, staffing shortages and patient insurance problems that already face rural hospitals in Arizona are about to get worse, Gov. Katie Hobbs heard Nov. 7 during a visit to the White Mountain Regional Medical Center.

"We're in an impossible situation," hospital CEO Wesley Babers told Hobbs during a discussion about looming cuts to health care funding that are part of President Donald Trump's budget reconciliation package, commonly known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
