BRIDGEVILLE, Pa. —
The government shutdown has forced the cancellation of the Veterans Day program at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, the cemetery announced this week.
In a brief post on Facebook Wednesday, the cemetery first said the Avenue of the Flags will not be put up, due to the shutdown. Advertisement
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website , the Avenue of Flags or "Avenue of Remembrance" is a "patriotic feature at a veterans cemetery and reinforces patriotism, national pride, and represents a visible, bold, and proud display of flags."
