KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) – A University of Kansas student living in Lawrence has been identified as the victim in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash that happened Thursday night.
Elsa McGrain, 20, a pre-med student, was hit by a vehicle while out running around 6 p.m. Thursday near the Lawrence Regional Airport. McGrain was set to graduate in 2026.
Deputies and detectives with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office are working to identify the driver involved in the crash and have released a photo of the vehicle they believe to be involved in the crash. Detectives say the vehicle is a truck that is all white with no side markings.
