For several weeks this fall, the trees of the iconic Zuccotti Park, blocks from Wall Street (and the frequent site of anti-capitalist protests), have created a captivating golden canopy, accentuated by the lights that wrap around them.

Now, on Saturday morning, workers were unpacking Christmas trees in the park, heralding the arrival of a new season: winter.

Zuccotti is just one of many New York City-based parks that are transformed by twinkling lights each year ahead of the holiday sea
