Hundreds of veterans, families and community members gathered Saturday at the All Veterans Memorial to take part in the annual Freedom Fest, a daylong celebration honoring those who have served.
Founded in 2003, Freedom Fest strives to recognize all veterans and their families through competitive, physical and community-focused events. Participants of all ages joined in activities including a run/walk, bike rides, disc golf tournament, foot march and warrior challenges.
Proceeds from the day’s events benefit local veteran organizations and memorials, including USD 252 Honor Flights, the 127th/635th Regiment Scholarship Program, the All Veterans Memorial, the North Lyon County Veterans Memorial Park and the Soldier Care Package Program.
