TYLER, Texas — At UT Tyler, hundreds of people gathered at Patriot Plaza to send a resounding message of hope for those in need.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) says the Out of the Darkness Walk raises awareness and supports those impacted by suicide. The event honored loved ones while raising over $50,000 to fund efforts protecting mental health and preventing suicide.
This was the organization’s 10th walk in Tyler, bringing the community together and acknowledging steps people can take to break the stigma behind conversations of mental health.
“I think that people were living through difficult, interesting times and where there's increasing isolation, and people are also the same time, learning to talk more about mental health and understand that talk saves lives
