BUFFALO, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Health is warning parents and caregivers to stop using certain ByHeart powdered infant formula products after the company voluntarily recalled specific lots tied to a multistate outbreak of infant botulism.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall on Saturday, following 13 reported cases across 10 states. No confirmed cases have been identified in New York, but state health officials said they are taking precautionary steps.
State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald emphasized the urgency of the recall when it comes to protecting families.
