MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho — As the government shutdown continues, two Mountain Home women are ensuring that families don’t go hungry.

Residents Rachelle Ruffing and Carly Rose-Pacheco launched the Mountain Home Community Cupboard just a week ago to provide food and household necessities to anyone in need — including federal workers missing paychecks and families struggling with rising costs.

“It’s for anybody that stands in need, and there’s no judgment or qualifications,” Ruffing said.

The cupboard, located outside Cloud X Vape and Smoke on American Legion Boulevard, has quickly become a vital resource. Pacheco said the effort “really took off,” thanks in part to Ruffing’s push to provide 30 Thanksgiving boxes for local families.
