MOUNT ULLA — West Rowan beat Southern Guilford 41-23 in the first round of the 5A state playoffs on Friday.
The final score is deceiving as the ninth-seeded Falcons had things under control by halftime. The second half was played with a running clock.
“We ran 41 offensive plays and scored 41 points,” West head coach Louis Kraft said. “It was 41-zip at the half.”
Brant Graham threw four touchdown passes for the Falcons (7-4). He hit Sloan Stewart twice for scores. Brennon Stevenson and Jaylen “Batman” Donaldson caught one TD each. Graham boosted his career TD pass total to 47. He’s been on a roll in recent weeks.
Devaunh White, West’s 1,000-yard back and the county rushing leader, did not play against Salisbury last
