MARBLE HILL, Mo. (KFVS) - By a narrow 3-point margin, Woodland Boys Cross Country won a third straight state title.

The Cardinals narrowly edged out Thomas Jefferson School, Saturday, 102 points to 105, securing history for Woodland.

Leading the way, Max Layton and Calvin Layton finished 13th and 14th, respectively. Both earned all-state honors, for Calvin his 4th consecutive year doing so.

Calvin Layton spoke about the moments after he finished individually, switching from race-mode to a frantic watching of the electronic scoreboard, seeing if Woodland’s team could pull out the victory.

“As soon as I finished, I went and looked to the scoreboard and all the electronics,” Calvin Layton said. “And I saw through four runners, we were behind 13 points. And I was like, ‘Ok, we’ve really go
