Alabama, with only 51 seconds before halftime and no timeouts, connected on a deep pass against LSU. Ty Simpson found Lotzeir Brooks 47 yards downfield and Brooks took the pass six more yards to put Alabama in the red zone.
The next play, Simpson hit Ryan Williams for a 13-yard touchdown, with 22 seconds to go until halftime.
On a day in which Alabama’s offense was inconsistent at best, that touchdown proved valuable. The No. 4 Crimson Tide went on to win 20-9 on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. But the deep passing game sputtered at times.
