There is disruption to the train network this morning after a vehicle hit a bridge. Urgent repairs to the structure between Newport in South Wales and Hereford mean all lines between those towns are blocked.

Those planning to travel by train in Gloucestershire on Sunday are advised to check their journeys for possible cancellations.

National Rail says: "Following a road vehicle striking a bridge at Cwmbran all lines are blocked whilst emergency repairs are carried out to the bridge. As a result, trains running between Newport (South Wales) and Hereford will be cancelled.

"Disruption is expected until 13:00."
