Regarding University of Hawaii Professor Chip Fletcher’s recent op-ed about the cause of climate change, setting aside personal insults, let’s all agree that humans contribute to global warming.
But what percentage is human-caused vs. nature-caused? There is certainly no consensus. As author Michael Crichton said, “the claim of consensus has been the first refuge of scoundrels; it is a way to avoid debate by claiming that the matter is already settled.”
Fletcher is on record as saying that today’s climate change is caused by humans: “All of it — period.” Does he expect us to believe that Mother Nature has suddenly ceased to exist?
