Residents have come together to fight housing plans for a “vital green space” they fear will ruin their village and add to its “pollution”.

The proposal from Croudace Homes is for 66 homes north of Drayhorse Meadow, off Fields Lane, in Wateringbury, .

Of these half (33) have been designated as affordable properties, and ten will be built as maisonettes.

The scheme, which covers 4.52 hectares, includes public open space, landscaping, 148 parking spaces and new vehicle and pedestrian access onto the A26.

But residents have a list of reasons why they believe the project shouldn’t go ahead.

They have now formed a group called Protect Our Medway Valley, and its 57 members are fighting to secure rejection of the plans when the application comes before Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council
