Proposals for a new holiday let scheme were rejected despite a groundswell of support from neighbours.

Councillors unanimously rejected the application for the wooden-clad static caravan, which is positioned on land off Ratling Road in Aylesham.

The application sought permission for a change of use of the land to allow the holiday home to be constructed.

However, some work has already been started on site, according to the council’s planning officer.

Papers show the static caravan would have seen timber cladding added to ensure it resembled the look of a wooden cabin.

But members of Dover District Council’s planning committee said it had to be turned down on highway safety grounds due to a lack of visibility when approaching the entrance.
