SAN ANTONIO — A bicyclist was hospitalized Saturday night after being struck by a VIA bus on the northwest side of San Antonio, according to a police report.

SAPD said the crash happened around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Fredericksburg Road and Quentin Drive.

Authorities said the bicyclist, was heading southbound on the 2500 block of Fredericksburg Road when he was allegedly side-swiped by a VIA bus traveling in the same direction. The impact caused the rider to fall off the bike.

The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital with injuries. The VIA bus did not remain at the scene and the driver has not been identified.

SAPD said this is an active investigation, and details are preliminary.
