POLK COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Polk County emergency authorities are urging some residents south of Carter Lake dam to evacuate in the event of a possible breach.

According to the Polk County Emergency Management Facebook page, the dam has been compromised.

Residents south of the dam, specifically on Henry Darden Road, Marie Road, Community Drive, Bo Peep, Herb Collins Road, and Girard are urged to evacuate while dam owners assess the risk.

Dunbar Gym located at 1103 Dunbar Ave. in Livingston is available as a shelter to those who cannot make other arrangements to stay with friends or family.
