POLK COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - Polk County emergency authorities are in contact with the property owners of the dam at Carter Lake about damage that could cause a breach.

Around 7:36 a.m. Sunday, Polk County Emergency Management reported that the situation at a damaged Carter Lake dam did not worsen overnight.

Saturday night PCOEM reported that the dam had been compromised and advised some residents south of Carter Lake to evacuate as a precaution.

The National Weather Service in Houston also issued a flashflood watch for the area due to the possibility of a dam failure. The watch remains in effect until Sunday afternoon.
