MADISON, Wis. (WKOW) — Gov. Tony Evers (D-WI) is leading a coalition urging the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reject the Trump Administration's attempt to halt SNAP payments.
SNAP provides food assistance to nearly 700,000 Wisconsinites.
Gov. Evers criticized the Trump Administration's actions saying, "The Trump Administration is actively trying to prevent Wisconsin from being able to rely on readily available federal resources to support full November FoodShare payments for nearly 700,000 Wisconsinites, including 270,000 kids. It’s unconscionable," Evers said.
The Trump Administration initially agreed to provide full SNAP benefits for November but later sought an emergency stay from the U.S. Supreme Court, creating confusion .
