It was only a matter of time, and at 7:00 PM it became official: Joan Peñarroya is no longer the coach of Barça.

After the team’s erratic play and more losses than wins, his position at the helm was more precarious than ever, but the crushing defeat against Bàsquet Girona was the final straw.

Official statement from FC Barcelona: “ FC Barcelona basketball coach Joan Peñarroya will not continue as head coach of the first team. FC Barcelona would like to thank the coach for his professionalism and wishes him every success in the future. The Terrassa native, who arrived in the 2024/25 season, will be replaced on an interim basis by assistant coach Óscar Orellana .”
