A freeze watch was released by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 4:48 p.m. valid for Tuesday between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. for Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island and Brooklyn as well as Westchester, Suffolk and Nassau counties.

The weather service comments, "Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees possible."

"Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation," states the weather service. "Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold."

What to do if there is a freeze watch or warning
