MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A threat was received at the Shelby County Jail on Saturday evening and authorities locked down the jail until Sunday evening, according to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.

The threat was received around 4:40 p.m. on Nov. 8, to 201 Poplar Ave. and authorities say outside contact, such as visitations, was temporarily suspended.

Authorities say the regular operation inside the jail was not affected.

At around 4:50 p.m., on Nov. 9, all jail operations resumed and are back to normal, according to the sheriff's office.

This is an ongoing investigation and authorities have not said what type of threat the jail was under.
