ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) has awarded its 17th franchise to Atlanta, according to reports.
This franchise will join the league for a record expansion of fee of $165 million, according to The Athletic .
Arthur Blank’s AMB Sports + Entertainment, which is the holding company of the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United FC and Mercedes-Benz Stadium, will own the franchise. This expansion team will play its home matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, according to the report.
Blank is set to hold an event on Tuesday.
The team is expected to debut sometime after the 2026 season.
