CLEVELAND — Road crews and folks across Northeast Ohio are gearing up for the first snowfall of the season .
“The first snow does always seem to be the worst for all of us,” Amanda McFarland, a spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Transportation, told 3News Sunday afternoon.
McFarland said crews are ready to roll. ODOT has more than 400 trucks across Northeast Ohio and 230,000 tons of salt standing by to tackle about 12,000 miles of roadway.
“We'll continue working in 12-hour shifts around the clock until this event moves all the way out,” said McFarland.
She said the pavement temperatures were still relatively warm, in the mid to upper 40s, so salt will work to treat the roads.
