PASCO, Wash. – Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) are investigating a wire theft and urging local farmers to check their fields for missing wire.

Deputies stopped a vehicle on November 8, around 3:30 a.m. on 4th Ave. They discovered about 30 feet of cut wire in the backseat, still covered in frost, along with cutting tools, FCSO said in a release .

Footprints on the car's hood matched both the driver and passenger, suggesting they used the vehicle to reach and cut the wire.

The driver was arrested and booked into Franklin County Jail for driving with a suspended license, false statements and a warrant for possession of stolen property. The passenger, although identified, was not arrested.
