Marshall’s regular season match at West Virginia was rather forgetful for the Herd, which suffered a 3-0 loss on Halloween.

MU will have an opportunity to make amends in the near future after it defeated Georgia State 3-1 on Sunday in a Sun Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinal.

The match, played at WVU’s home venue of Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, came shortly after West Virginia advanced past Old Dominion.

No. 3 seed Marshall and second-seeded WVU will now meet again at 7 p.m. Wednesday with a spot in the Sun Belt final on the line.

In the win over the Panthers, Marshall (10-2-5) struck first in the 17th minute on Takahiro Fujita’s third goal this season.

Less than 1 minute later, however, Georgia State (4-8-6) pulled even on Gavin Williams’ goal.
