WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A retired Kansas teacher turned interior decorator was hand selected to decorate the White House for the holidays.
The process to decorate the 55,000 square foot home takes time and planning, so each year, volunteers are picked. This year, Rena Parcher from Kansas was selected.
“I got an email on the fifth and I opened it up and it said, ‘congratulations,’ across the top, ‘you’ve been chosen to decorate the White House’,” Parcher said. “I was real excited and I thought, ‘I wonder if it’s real’, then I just kept reading.”
Applications start early every year with those selected to go finding out in October.
