An updated lake effect snow warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Monday at 1:08 a.m. in effect until Tuesday at 1 p.m. for Southern Erie and Crawford County.

"Heavy lake effect snow occurring. Additional snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches," can be anticipated according to the weather service. "Localized tree damage and power outages are possible due to the combined weight of wet snow accumulations and leaves remaining on the trees. Snowfall rates within the strongest bands may reach 1 to 2 inches per hour."

"Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages.
