Commuters are being warned of travel chaos on the M74 as police deal with an ongoing incident on Monday (November 10).

Traffic Scotland has warned of delays of up to 21 minutes near Hamilton Services. It is understood that cops have shut off the slip at junction 5.

Traffic cameras at the scene show large queues developing. The nature of the police incident is not currently known.

A spokesperson for Traffic Scotland said: "M74 Northbound Junction 5 Off-Slip is CLOSED due to a police incident. Police are at the scene.

"Please avoid the area and use an alternative route at this time. Approx 21 minute delay on the approach."
