The bridge is being lifted into place on Monday (November 10) afternoon

The first bridge to be built over the River Trent since the 1950s is finally being lifted into place today. Nottingham's Waterside Bridge will connect the Trent Basin housing estate to Lady Bay in Rushcliffe .

A section of the River Trent will remain closed on Monday (November 10), as a crane lowers the 278ft-long (85m) bridge. It has been assembled by the river's edge after parts were stored eight miles away from the site in Hucknall , with a huge arch towering over homes for months.

The project, which was first approved by planners in April 2024, was plagued by delays and disagreements over who should pay for it.
