An Ayrshire street has been locked down over a suspected hostage situation on Monday (November 10).
Officers were called to Cathkin Place in the Whitehirst Park area of Kilwinning at around 1.10am after reports of a 'male causing a disturbance' within a property. The Record reports that armed police were deployed to the scene and residents urged to remain indoors.
A number of streets around the area have been locked down while emergency services deal with the incident which is believed to be a hostage situation. Paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service and fire crews are also in attendance in the town this morning.
